SmartLiposuction, also known as laser liposuction, is an FDA-approved minimally invasive liposuction procedure that works a bit like a gentler version of traditional liposuction. Where liposuction uses vacuum suction to remove fat, SmartLipo uses heat to melt fat before it’s siphoned out.
Blood tests are required prior to treatment. Finish blood tests at least two weeks prior to the procedure. Drink 1-2 quarts of water daily for one week prior to the procedure.
Please fill prescriptions and take medications as indicated. Arrange for transportation to and from the office. You should not drive yourself after the procedure.
Shower, eat a small meal and drink a glass of water. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, and a button down shirt if it is easier to remove once you get home.
Take any prescribed medications as indicated.
Discomfort may be relieved by ice packs or acetaminophen.
Apply antibiotic ointment or Scar guard® treatment to the incision twice daily using a cotton swab.
Do not engage in vigorous exercise or sports for at least 2 weeks or until approved by your provider.
For most people, results are achieved in just one treatment. Results can be seen within a week, with continued improvement over 3–6 months.
SmartLipo is intended for those who maintain a healthy lifestyle, yet experience stubborn fat in treatable areas. As long as significant weight gain is not experienced, you will maintain your SmartLipo results.
To ensure optimal aesthetic results, it is recommended that SmartLipo patients maintain their post-operative weight. However, we understand that maintaining weight isn't always feasible. If you happen to gain weight after your SmartLipo procedure, there's no need to worry. Typically, as long as the weight gain is less than 10 pounds, you are unlikely to notice a significant difference in your body, particularly in the area that was treated with the SmartLipo laser.
