Sun exposure is the most significant cause of aging skin. At West Wilson Aesthetics, we treat sun damage with a combination of lasers, IPL, and microneedling.
Whether you're concerned with fine lines, wrinkles, or brown spots, the team at West Wilson Aesthetics in Mount Juliet, TN use a combination of Intense Pulse Light (IPL), laser treatments, and RF/Microneedling to treat existing sun damage.
ICON laser therapy uses pulse light technology. The technology makes use of many wavelengths of light along with certain filters to deliver the best wavelengths to treat your particular skin conditions and signs of aging. We glide the machine over the area and specialized pulses of light hit your skin to target everything from sun-damaged vessels to brown spots without causing any harm to the surrounding skin. Once the targeted area absorbs the light energy, it is destroyed and as your body naturally heals, the target will slowly disappear.
IPL, which stands for intense pulsed light, is a treatment that delivers powerful light energy in quick pulses. While it is commonly referred to as a laser, it is technically different. Both IPL and lasers work with light energy, but lasers emit a single wavelength of light that targets specific components in the skin, while IPL uses broad-spectrum light that can be filtered by adjusting the device's settings. This makes IPL a gentler and more versatile option compared to laser treatments.
PicoSure® uses ultrashort pulses of energy, minimizing heat transfer to the surrounding skin. This means pigment removal with little to no collateral damage to the unaffected areas. Unlike other lasers that reduce pigment transfer, PicoSure® disrupts the pigment in the upper layers of skin. This can markedly clear melasma within a few sessions.
Radiofrequency microneedling is a procedure that uses tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate facial skin. The treatment is a form of controlled skin injury. The damage stimulates the growth of healthy new skin, which can benefit common skin issues like acne scars and wrinkles.
